Guest Blogger: To Old To Be Natural?

Image
Source Guest Blogger Sabrina writes: OK, I turned 40 last year and it's only been five years I've been relaxer free but only two years I've been completely Natural and nurtured my curls. Now, I was little in the 70's and by the time I was a teen relaxers were BIG BUSINESS and living in humid ass Mississippi meant you had a perm if your mother loved you at all! I've never really known my Natural hair and this Natural hair journey has been wonderful and enlightening. Now, it seems that the majority of the Newly Natural are YOUNGER than me. I have no numbers or stats but I'd guess the majority are younger than 30. It might even be younger than 25 but like I said....not real data, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of the Naturals are way younger than my ass. They are stylish, skinny, confident and lovely. I am stylish (for 40), NOT SKINNY, gaining confidence daily and feeling kinda lovely on most days. I don't wanna see this Natural explosion...

They were having a buy 1, get 1 sale (Whoopee!). Regular price was $16. Review It has a sort of tropical scent and has a medium consistency. Not to thick and not too thin. I love it! Its a great detangler and makes my hair soft. The pH Balance is 4.5, which is pretty good (hair is 4.5-5.5). The ingredients are good as well. Overall great conditioner. I will continue to use this product SN: I wasn't sure what the name meant so I researched it and I think that Califia is a fictional African A...

1. Why did you decide to go natural and how long have you been natural? I have been natural for 15 months now. I decided to go natural because having a relaxer was high-maintenance. I have two daughters so having to do 3 heads was very time consuming. I wanted the versatility and freedom that could only be achieved with natural hair! Now if I'm short on time I don't have to worry about whether or not I'll have time to style my hair...I can water spritz or saturate and towel blot my hair and I'm out the door! 2. How did you transition? I wasn't bold enough to do the BC. So I gradually grew out my relaxer and received regular trims-every 6 weeks until it was allllllll gone! I made an attempt to transition once before and about 4 months into it I decided to get a relaxer and my hair broke off. So the last time I decided to transition I knew there was no going back. I did my research and went full speed ahead! 3. What is your regimen? I clarify monthly with ...
