Natural Diva Spotlight- Kristen

1. Why did you decide to go natural and how long have you been natural?
I have been natural for 15 months now. I decided to go natural because having a relaxer was high-maintenance. I have two daughters so having to do 3 heads was very time consuming. I wanted the versatility and freedom that could only be achieved with natural hair! Now if I'm short on time I don't have to worry about whether or not I'll have time to style my hair...I can water spritz or saturate and towel blot my hair and I'm out the door!

2. How did you transition?
I wasn't bold enough to do the BC. So I gradually grew out my relaxer and received regular trims-every 6 weeks until it was allllllll gone! I made an attempt to transition once before and about 4 months into it I decided to get a relaxer and my hair broke off. So the last time I decided to transition I knew there was no going back. I did my research and went full speed ahead!

3. What is your regimen?
I clarify monthly with a clarifying shampoo, deep condition bi-weekly, and co-wash about 4-5 times a week. Sulfate free shampoos work best with my hair. My hair is as healthy as the day I was born!! lol, seriously!

4. What are 4 products you use regularly?
Products I cannot live without: Taaliah Waajid's African Healing Oil! After a shampoo and conditioner, or a co-wash I can get by with just the oil and no other products. I generally use Giovanni moisturizing shampoo/cond or Burt's Bees moisturizing shampoo/cond.

5. What advice would you give to someone transitioning or a new natural?
To anyone transitioning I would say, everyone's hair is different. The most difficult part of transitioning and what can be the most discouraging aspect is determining which products works best for your particular hair type. It takes a little bit of experimentational trial and error. But, it's well worth it! It is important to research natural hair and natural hair products before deciding to transition. Check out as many blogs as possible! It's fun! Learning about others who have taken the step into the natural world is eye-opening and exciting!! And to be a part of that world offers a unique experience that more and more people are desiring to be a part of!

6. Is there anything else you want to add?
I love my natural me!

Thanks for including me in your success Ms. Sassy;-) I'm loving your vision!
