Natural Diva Spotlight: My Mommy!!

Image
Twist Out After a couple years of suggesting and pleading.....She finally agreed to let the relaxer go. NO LYE! lol The Why For various reasons, my Mom's hair was beginning to thin and break off and the harsh chemicals every 6 weeks was not helping. She finally decided to give her tresses a break and July 2012 was the last time she put a relaxer in The How Wigs are a lady's best friend! Regimen Pretty simple regimen. Keep it washed and minimal heat applied. I used henna to color her very few and far between grays (shhhh!). I used Moroccan henna from Henna Sooq ....great place! Happily Ever After I am happy to report that her hair is getting stronger, growing, and she only has normal hair shedding. As of yesterday, she is completely natural!! *****Keep Learning, Living, and Loving Your Natural Hair

Tip of the Day: Hands Out Of Your Hair

Image
Source I know how much we ALL love our luscious curls and kinks, and sometimes its SOOOOO hard to keep our hands out. If you are anything like me you enjoy twirling, pattin', and fluffing your do'. There is a consequence to all that touching.....Pesky Knots!! The correct term for these tiny single strand knots is Trichonodosis.

Twist Out Pre-Poo I spray Infusium Pro-Vitamin Leave in Hair Treatment to my dry hair and apply warm EVOO from roots to ends. I cover with a shower cap and leave on for a few hours (if time permits). Shampoo Wash hair using Hair One Cleansing Conditioner (Olive Oil). I usually do my process in the shower.

Sassy Natural's Top Moisturizers

Source I get a lot of questions on what I use to keep my hair moisturized. I have made a list of the products I use on a regular or daily basis.

      1.   WATER
There is no better hydrator than water. Don't be shy, your hair loves it!
*Tip : after conditioning, rinse with cool water to lock the moisture into your hair cuticles.
*Tip : I use a (water + aloe vera juice ) spritzer to moisturize between washes

           2.   Coconut Oil
I use coconut oil daily because it is a light oil and a natural anti-humectant

       3.   Jojoba Oil
Light oil and virtually odorless. Great for your hair and scalp. This oil is closest to your scalp's natural sebum . I use it in any butter mixture I make

      4.   EVOO
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a great treatment for your h...

Naomi Campbell's Hair Whoas

Image
At one of Naomi's latest photo shoot, her apparent case of Traction Alopecia is causing a buzz in the hair world. This condition comes from tension or "pulling" of the hair over a long period of time. Styles such as braids and hair weave contribute. It is very prevelent in the African American community. If caught early, this condition is repairable, but if not, it can be permanent damage. Hopefully in Naomi's case it isn't. So, ladies "take cur of yo hur". Extensions, braids, kinky twist, etc are great to wear, but let your scalp and hair rest afterward.
