Hot Summer Days

Image
Summer is officially here in the South! 90 degrees and then some! I have primarily kept my hair in protective styles the entire summer. With this mini two strand twist, I co-washed and used As I Am's Twist Defining Cream. It turned out nicely!

Summer Protective Style

Image
This has been my signature style all summer long. The twists have really helped my hair grow! In this style, I used Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner to co-wash and Komaza Care's Califia Care Leave-in. I also used my rose water/glycerin spritzer to dampen hair when needed, and applied Afroveda's Shea Amla Whipped Butter Cream on my ends when twisting. The flower was purchased from Sally Beauty Supply for $1.90!

Twist Updo

I sectioned my hair into two sections. Front section I did two strand twists. Second section I did flat twists (got to get used to twisting from the back). You can wear this style with the twists for awhile and then take them out for the "twist out".

Mini Twists

I decided to try my mini twists again the other day, and I can tell you that this won't happen that often! I think it took me approximately 5 hours to finish them and I have already taken them down... tis tis . They were cute while they lasted though. I forgot to bring my Komaza Care pudding, so I ended up using nothing but leave in conditioner. The hair accessory was bought at Target on clearance. It adds a little extra and the headband fits comfortably.

Great workout styles...What's yours?

Source So, I started my DAY 1 P90x Challenge **what the blipblopblue am I thinking** Well, I'm thinking "I am way over my comfort zone of weight" and now I have to do something about it! Clothes don't fit anymore and I'm one of those women who are in denial and I refuse to go out and buy more clothes. TIME FOR A CHANGE .

Two Strand Twist Maintenance

Image
Yall, I actually still have my twists! I put them in last Sunday, and as tempted as I am to take them out for my twist out, I will not! I have a fall/winter goal to really focus on growth. I miss my shoulder length hair. I plan to wear a protective style for a week or two, then a glam style for a week. This will keep my hair from getting tangled and those pesky knots from forming. Talked to a fellow naturalista and she talked about how a multivitamin for hair and nails have helped her, so I may give it a try.

Two Strand Twist *UPDATE*

Curly Fro

Image
Today I tried to refresh my curls by dampening them with water and my homemade leave in, twisting in bigger chunks, and then putting them into bantu knots. The result was a very soft curly fro. Not my best, but it will do. The leave in conditioner I use is one created by kimmaytube on youtube. Its great so check her out!
