Most of us product junkies and new naturals have had many trials and errors this year finding products that work for our hair. I have found a few products that are tried and true and some that I will not be taking into 2011.

My new staples are:
  1. Hair One cleansing conditioner
  2. Kinky Curly's Knot Today leave in conditioner
  3. Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue
  4. Kamaza Care's Califia Care Styling Pudding
  5. shea butter
  6. jojoba oil
  7. coconut oil
  8. glycerin and rose water.

Products I plan to leave behind because they just don't work well with my hair:

  1. Cantu's Shea Butter leave in conditioning repair cream
  2. Kinky Curly's Come Clean shampoo
  3. Aubrey Organics' GPB conditioner
  4. Giovanni's Smooth As Silk shampoo
  5. Carol's Daughter's Mimosa Hair Honey

Protective Styling: Marley Twists

  This is such a late post but I just wanted to share my protective style of choice I have rocked this past few weeks. YouTube was my friend on 'how to' for this one. I used the invisible root method where you are twisting from the scalp instead of the braid/twist method. It took a minute to get used to, but once you catch on its not so bad. I used 4 packs of Marley Braid Hair with 2 different colors. I sectioned my hair in medium parts and used 2 strands of the marley hair to make it thick. If done quickly and nonstop, I think it would have taken me about 4 hours, but I procrastinated and split my time. I will definitely be using this style again .

Rose Water and Glycerin Mix

 Source  I ran out of my rosewater and glycerin pre-mixed spray, so I decided to make my own this time. I purchased Frontier vegetable glycerin and Alwadi rosewater. I used a 4 oz. bottle, put 2 parts rosewater, 1 part aloe vera juice, and about 1 tbs. of glycerin. If you plan to try it, you can play around and do variations to find what does well with your coils. Do not use too much glycerin unless you want sticky hair! Be sure to refrigerate afterwards. This spritzer is a great way to add moisture to your hair between washes. Today I am using it to do dry twists. If you try it, come back and let me know how it worked out for you and your recipe used! Glycerin is great for your hair because it attracts water and water=moisture. Rose water increases bloodflow to the scalp, which promotes hair growth.
